Clear Braces

Clear braces can be a great alternative to traditional metal braces. Made of ceramic material, they’re less visible on your teeth than metal braces.

Clear Braces vs Traditional Metal Braces

Clear braces, commonly referred to as ceramic braces, tooth-colored braces, or aesthetic braces, are designed to be less noticeable on your teeth than traditional metal braces.

Many older teens and adults we treat at Glendale Orthodontic Group prefer this more subtle option because you can get a beautifully straight smile without noticeable metal braces.

Clear braces at Glendale Orthodontic Group are smaller than ever and made of nearly invisible tooth-colored ceramic material.

Your orthodontist may use clear braces to correct your bite and align your smile the same way as traditional metal braces. Ceramic brackets blend in well with your natural smile, and while not entirely invisible, they are approximately the same size and shape as traditional metal braces but much less noticeable.

Metal braces are known for their strength and durability. Ceramic braces are tough, too, but they are created from a slightly more delicate material that may chip or crack.

Metal braces are also better at tolerating pressure than these newer ceramic ones.

If your orthodontist needs to make more drastic corrections, metal braces could be a better choice. With ceramic braces, adjustments have to be slightly smaller, so the process can take a little longer to align your teeth.

Both traditional metal and clear braces work the same way and are equally effective in most cases.

Clear Braces Cost

Your treatment cost at Glendale Orthodontic Group will vary depending on the complexity of your case. Our team will determine a fee that fits your specific orthodontic needs, and we will work with you to accommodate you and your budget.

One of the biggest factors impacting your total treatment cost at Glendale Orthodontic Group will be the materials we use for your braces. At our office in Glendale, ceramic brackets can cost a little more than metal brackets.

We’ll consider the work it takes to put your braces on, adjust them, and remove them when we determine your total treatment cost.

Placing and removing clear braces demands more attention and technique from your orthodontist and requires more time.

The good news is we offer flexible payment plans and dental financing options through CareCredit and Sunbit. Glendale Orthodontic Group aims to provide outstanding value to our patients for a reasonable fee.

Our team will be happy to review the cost with you at your free initial consultation at our Glendale, AZ office.

Recommended for Adults

After a thorough orthodontic evaluation, your orthodontist can determine which treatment option will be best for you and your smile.

Ceramic brackets are more delicate with the potential to break, and since they are more expensive than metal brackets, we believe they suit adults and older teens better than younger teens and children.

Clear Braces FAQ

Before applying your brackets, the team at Glendale Orthodontic Group will collect photos and x-rays of your mouth. Sometimes we’ll use a digital scanner to scan each of your teeth and the layout of your gums and mouth. If necessary, this process takes 10-15 minutes and provides a highly accurate 3D view of your mouth.

After x-rays and the optional scans, we will use this information to create your personalized treatment plan. Your plan will include how each tooth needs to move to get it in the straightest position.

Our team will decide how to place the brackets based on the information we gather. For example, if you have some teeth that need to be tilted, the placement of those brackets will be different than the placement of brackets for teeth that need to be turned.

After attaching your brackets, we will insert the wire. Bends in the wire will provide different types of pressure on other teeth. Your orthodontist will create precise movements using this bend in the wire.

You'll be happy to learn that this hasn't been a problem with today's ceramic brackets. The ceramic brackets won't stain, but the adhesive used to attach the brackets to the teeth and the clear elastic ties used to hold the wires in place may stain your teeth.

You may choose to avoid drinks and foods that commonly stain the teeth, such as; coffee and tea, red wine, etc., to reduce the chance of staining. Although, this isn't necessary since we will change your elastics at every check-up.

If you maintain good oral hygiene and follow your treatment plan designed by our team, you shouldn't have to worry too much about giving up your morning cup of coffee or evening glass of wine.

Every mouth is different, and every individual responds to treatment in their own way. Treatment time with clear braces at Glendale Orthodontic Group will differ for each patient.

The average time in clear braces is roughly 18 to 22 months. Still, depending on the patient and the personalized treatment plan your orthodontist designs, it may be shorter or longer.

We have some patients at Glendale Orthodontic Group in braces for as few as six months, but it can take over three years to complete the process for more complex issues.

With clear braces from Glendale Orthodontic Group, you will notice improvements in your smile quickly, giving you confidence during the treatment process.
